Throughout a career one effective teacher will positively influence thousands of students. Great teachers change the world. Every day we go to work hoping to do two things: share great teaching practices with as many teachers as we can, and find new and better ways to help schools reach their potential.
Educational Impact (“EI”) is founded with a mission of improving global professional development for teachers and administrators in K-12 school systems and Colleges of Education.
Two years in the making, EI launches its e-learning platform along with its first online program. The program includes 12 hours of streaming video and features many of North America’s leading educational experts.
EI launches its first course with classroom video. Real teachers in action becomes the cornerstone of EI’s video library. Multiple choice assessments and other online tools are added to the platform to increase accountability and promote user interaction.
EI releases new online tools to make personalized online professional development a reality. EI’s unique personal learning plan tool allows users to create their own video playlist populated with clips that directly address their unique areas of need.
EI partners with the Ohio Association of Elementary School Principals to release the first 360-degree school leadership assessment coupled with a personal learning plan for school administrators.
EI forms a partnership with Charlotte Danielson and begins to create a compelling series of online courses to support schools that use the Framework for Teaching. Over 300 new classroom clips are added to EI’s video library.
EI undertakes the first of many extensive reviews of its video library and Online Academy to be sure users are accessing the most relevant, engaging and up to date content. EI retires over 150 hours of video. EI repeats this process periodically throughout the next decade.
EI partners with numerous Colleges of Education, including Western Governors University (still a customer today). By infusing a wide range of EI video content into their teacher preparation courses, visual learning and job relevancy are enhanced.
EI rebuilds its entire online platform using "Open Design". Users are now able to create custom online courses by mixing and matching EI video clips with their own documents, videos, links, interactive tools and other resources.
To meet the increasing demand from its university customers, EI releases an alternative "unnarrated" version of its full length classroom videos. University professors use the alternative versions to add their own emphasis, critique and commentary.
EI forms a partnership with acclaimed trauma expert Heather T. Forbes, LCSW and her company Beyond Consequences. EI begins filming unique trauma simulations in the classroom that includes insightful commentary and critique from Heather.
EI aligns its massive library of video content to the widely used teacher evaluation systems. Teachers can now generate prescriptive PD plans based on their evaluation results.
In partnership with Heather Forbes and Beyond Consequences, EI launches the first part of its Trauma Informed Online Academy. The initial launch includes 15 online courses and over 30 hours of streaming video.
EI partners with companies like PowerSchool and Standards for Success to make EI courses available to their customers through fully integrated solutions.
Based on Heather Forbes’ groundbreaking publication “Classroom I80,” EI partners with Beyond Consequences to release 10 additional online courses on the critical topic of how to become a trauma informed school.
Based on the enormous success of the Danielson and Trauma series, EI creates four new series on Special Education, SEL, Return to Learning, and Literacy, Each new series has between 12 to 20 courses
The state of Hawaii contracts with Educational Impact to deliver the Trauma Informed Online Academy to every teacher and administrator in the state. Educational Impact worked with the state to create additional custom content to address the teacher and student trauma from the Maui fires.
